When is the last time you uncluttered your money?

I tend to be a bit of an organizational freak. Clutter stresses me out and makes me anxious so of course places like the Container Store or shows like the Marie Kondo series on Netflix get me super excited! There is a satisfaction and sense of calm that accompanies the tidying of spaces or parts of one’s life.

I’m sure you’ve noticed lately how many people are shooting straight out of the gate with New Year’s resolutions and goals. And if you are one of them then more power to you —keep on riding that motivation wave! If you are not one for resolutions (like me) please know that it’s OK! There can be so much pressure around goal setting and accomplishing more and more. Let's take a step back after all the chaos of the holidays and inhale a deep breath shall we?

I find it quite valuable to review, revise, and unclutter in order to create space for new goals, ideas, beliefs and habits. The beginning of the year is the perfect time to go through all of your spending, automatic payments, and unnecessary subscriptions (hello old magazines subscriptions that just go straight into the recycling bin) to clear out the old and start fresh with the new!

It's also a great time to review last year's spending, organize your receipts (prep for tax season), and toss out any extra papers and files that are no longer needed. Use this opportunity to clear out the physical clutter while also clearing your mind for a new beginning and a new tax year. Create space for those items, experiences, and habits that you want to bring into your life in 2019 even if you don't know what they are yet!
